Dear John,

For too long, opponents of Social Security have blamed this program for soaring budget deficits and called for huge cuts and radical “reforms” to shrink the program. (For the record, Social Security doesn’t add a dime to the deficits since it is funded by workers’ payroll contributions!)

That’s why the National Committee continues to lead the charge to pass U.S. Representative John Larson’s (CT-01) “Social Security 2100 Act” which he’s just reintroduced in Congress. This bill offers a resounding rebuke to the outrageous claims about Social Security, including that the only way to “save” the program is to cut benefits.

The Social Security 2100 Act will go a long way to boost monthly benefits, protect beneficiaries from the impact of soaring inflation and strengthen this vital program for years to come — and all without adding a dime to deficits. It would also require the wealthy to pay their fair share into Social Security which would help extend the program’s solvency and improve benefits.

Please help us build support for this commonsense legislation by signing the National Committee’s EMERGENCY PETITION TO CONGRESS today!

I’m sure you agree, we need to change the conversation in Washington, DC that remains fixated on scapegoating seniors and their earned benefits for our country’s debt crisis.

This bill does that. And already, the Social Security 2100 Act has garnered over 175 cosponsors. But to get this bill over the finish line in Congress your lawmakers need to hear directly from senior Americans like you — the people who have a personal stake in the outcome of this debate.

So please, sign our EMERGENCY PETITION today and help us put pressure on lawmakers to support the Social Security 2100 Act!

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
