Dear John,
On Tuesday, the Assembly passed a bill that gives polluters the right to interfere with the science that protects the groundwater and health of the people of Wisconsin.
It’s hard to state how dangerous that is. When it comes to keeping Wisconsin’s water clean, lives are at stake – lives like Craig Koller’s.
At only 31 years of age, Craig has been diagnosed with cancer THREE TIMES. And three of his high school classmates in Marinette have had cancer diagnoses – one of the most closely linked health outcomes of the dangerous PFAS contamination plaguing the northeast Wisconsin community.
That is precisely why our team has been working around the clock to stop the dangerous bill that would let polluters like the ones who contaminated Craig’s water with PFAS have a hand in setting health standards for these chemicals in your groundwater.
Your urgent gift today helps us fight to ensure everyone in Wisconsin has safe, clean drinking water – and holds polluters accountable when they poison your water and threaten your health.
Two separate bills (AB 842 and AB 843) that will set emergency standards for two of the most prevalent PFAS chemicals and give authority to the DNR to hold polluters accountable are also moving through the legislature this week.
With conservation voters like you standing with us, we’ve been putting pressure on key decision makers and drumming up grassroots support for these bills.
But to win these fights for clean water, we need your continued support. Will you support our work with a gift today that helps us protect Wisconsinites from PFAS – and the terrifying links to cancer, fertility dysfunction, liver disease, and other illnesses that come with them?
Thank you for taking up the fight for clean drinking water in Wisconsin!
