The Mississippi Center for Public Policy started life thirty years ago. In that time, we have had some notable victories.

Last year, we won the battle to cut Mississippi’s state income tax to a flat 4 percent. The year before, we helped pass a law to combat Critical Race theory. Shortly before that, we helped change the law to allow Charter Schools and more school choice.

None of these wins would be possible without good communication. It is only by campaigning effectively that we are able to popularize the case for change - and overcome liberal media bias.

Thirty years ago, great communications mostly meant good newspaper coverage. Today, we still get that. So far this year, we have been featured 381 times in newspapers across the state – and 35 times in columns across the country.
Our Saturday email is now opened & read over 150,000 times a month – and some months has been opened and read over 200,000 times. To put that in perspective, when I sent out my very first Saturday email in early January 2021, it was read by fewer than 1,800 people.
When Riley Gaines, the swimmer, came to speak to us about women and sport, about 150 people were in the room. Since then, 1.8 million people across America have watched one of our videos of Riley’s talk at River Hills in Jackson. Riley has become the national champion for women’s rights in sport standing up to those with a radical agenda.
There has long been a liberal bias in the media, but today it is explicit. Many media organizations have stopped even pretending that they are even-handed.

We have built up a large online audience, on multiple different platforms. We have found a way to overcome anti-conservative bias – and we believe we are winning the battle for hearts and minds as a result.

I believe we are on course to become one of the more high-profile free market advocacy organizations in the southern United States.
