HI NRDC Activist,
What if I told you that the most widely used pesticide in the United States is so toxic it is linked with increased risk of birth defects?
Yes, that's the alarming finding from recent research about neonics...
If we don't take action now to restrict the use of toxic neonics, we risk not only a future without enough pollinators to sustain our food systems, but also future generations poisoned by pesticides. Will you stand with us in the fight to restrict the use of toxic neonic pesticides before it's too late?
We're waging an all-out battle against giant agricultural corporate interests, but our work can't continue without your support now.
Make your 2x MATCHED gift and help us save bees, protect children's health, and defend our environment on all fronts. Your gift will DOUBLE up to $100,000 but only until July 31. All it takes is $5 to make a difference!
Agrichemical manufacturers pushing neonic pesticides don't want you to know the facts about these incredibly toxic chemicals. That's because the data is truly disturbing:
- Over 90% of pregnant women in a recent study had neonics in their bodies.
- Scientists found that neonics effectively pass from mother to fetus and children exposed to neonics in the womb have a higher risk of birth defects of the heart and brain.
- Research also links neonics to a host of neurological harms, such as muscle tremors, as well as health effects like lower testosterone levels, altered insulin regulation, and changes to fat metabolism.
And yet, 150 million acres of crops get doused in neonics every year. These toxic chemicals actually absorbed by the plant, making it impossible to wash off.
With all this mounting evidence, it's unconscionable that the EPA has so far done nothing to limit or ban harmful uses of neonics.
NRDC isn't going to stop fighting back until we end the scourge of neonics' threats to our environment and ourselves. That's what makes your support right now so critical.
Donate just $5 before July 31 to and DOUBLE your impact to help us pressure the EPA to ban neonic pesticides and stop agrichemical giants from poisoning our food supply.
There's no two ways about it: neonics are an escalating threat with cascading effects beyond our health. The deluge of neonics used on crops, gardens, and lawns is causing pollinator populations to plummet and that means crops like blueberries, apples, and cherries aren't producing the same yields. That could soon translate to less food and increased food insecurity for marginalized communities.
NRDC is fighting back in and out of court... pressuring the EPA to do its job to protect our environment and our health... mobilizing citizens in key states to support restrictions on neonic use... and fighting back against the lobbying might of agrichemical companies that would rather protect their profits than our health and communities. But none of this happens without you.
This is urgent: our deadline ends in 48 hours. Donate just $5 today to help us ban neonics, defend children's health and save bees. Every dollar will DOUBLE, up to $100,000 until July 31.
Thank you for helping us get one step closer to protecting our health and environment from neonics.
