As you've surely already heard, mass shooters terrorized two more American cities this weekend, killing at least 29 people and wounding dozens more in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. 

We condemn these acts of unspeakable violence, and our hearts are with El Paso and Dayton as they search for solace in these dark moments. 

We cannot continue this way. There are solutions to this national nightmare, and in Washington State, we worked to implement them. We’ve passed policies like enhanced, expanded background checks and Extreme Risk Protection Orders. When implemented properly, these policies can prevent the tragedies that destroy our communities. It is past time to enact similar gun safety reforms at the federal level. 

Today our hearts are wracked with grief at the toll this epidemic continues to take across the nation. But until we put an end to this senselessness, our work is not finished.
