During a House committee hearing a couple of weeks ago, Rep. Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA), Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX), Rep.
Jasmine Crockett (D-MO), and other House Democrats boldly stood up for DACA
recipients and their fundamental human right to have health care.
A little bit of context: In April, the Biden administration announced its plans
to expand health coverage for DACA recipients, finally allowing them access to
affordable health care through Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces. This is a major victory, following years of advocacy.
In the hearing, Republicans cruelly targeted DACA recipients, by pushing to deny
them access to health care — while Democrats, led by ranking Democrat Rep. Katie
Porter (D-CA), affirmed that affordable health care is a right for every person
in this country, including immigrant youth.
So, we’re coming together to say ‘thank you’ to the House Democrats who took a
stand for DACA recipients during this hearing. Friend,
will you help us thank them by adding your name to our note of appreciation?
