Lt. Governor Husted Announces Key Staff Change

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced today the departure of his Chief of Staff, Joshua Eck, as he pursues a new opportunity outside of state government. Husted named Aaron Crooks to serve as his Chief of Staff, effective at the close of business today.

Eck, a longtime Husted staffer, first joined the team as Press Secretary in the Secretary of State?s Office under then-Secretary Husted. He later joined the Husted for Ohio campaign as a spokesperson, a position he also held for DeWine-Husted for Ohio following their primary election victory in 2018 and again for the DeWine-Husted Gubernatorial Transition Committee. He served as the Lt. Governor?s Communications Director for nearly two years before being named Chief of Staff on November 6, 2020. Eck previously held positions in the Ohio House and Ohio Senate, and he is a native of Lorain County and a graduate of Malone University in Canton.

?Josh has been an important part of our successes at the offices of Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor. He has the winning combination of being talented and hard-working, and I have been blessed to have him as part of the team,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?Aaron brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from both the public and private sectors to his new role, and I look forward to all that we will collectively accomplish as a team over the next few years as we remain focused on our innovation, workforce and economic development agenda."

Aaron Crooks most recently served as Director of Legislative Affairs for Governor Mike DeWine, a position he has held since 2021. In that role, Crooks led the creation and advocacy of the administration?s legislative agenda with the General Assembly and stakeholders. Before joining the DeWine-Husted Administration, he held positions with CareSource, OhioHealth, and the Office Of Health Transformation. He began his career in the Ohio Senate in 2002 and resides in Upper Arlington with his wife and two children.

The?Chief of Staff position?oversees the direct staff members in the Lt. Governor?s Office as well as the teams at the Common Sense Initiative (CSI), InnovateOhio, and the Governor?s Office of Workforce Transformation ? three Offices of the Governor led by Husted.
