- The 13th step of the State Capitol building in Denver is exactly one mile above sea level.
- Colorado once had three Governors in a single day.
- The world's first rodeo was held on July 4, 1869, in Deer Trail.

- Denver is the only city to have turned down hosting the Olympic Games.
- The name Colorado means “colored red.”
- The first teddy bear was created in Colorado.
