Patriot,

Thanks to your emails, postcards, and phone calls, you and I
scored two major victories in the National Defense Authorization
Act (NDAA), in that neither the free speech-killing RESTRICT Act,
nor any digital ID scheme, was included in the versions passed in
the House and Senate.

But the Senate version did not include the prohibition against
indefinite detention of Americans without trial.

We can WIN, or LOSE, on all three of these issues when the bill
goes to "conference committee."

This is the special committee created when the House and Senate
pass different versions of a bill. Conferees from each house come
together to create the exact same bill which must then be passed
by each house.

Right now, the momentum is on our side. For the first time, you
and I were able to force passage on the prohibition on indefinite
detention in the House. This passed the Senate in previous terms.

And it has support in both parties so . . .

We CAN win this if you continue to take action and DEMAND your
lawmakers support the repeal of indefinite detention in the NDAA!

But I'm concerned, Patriot, we could also LOSE if too few
patriots keep up the pressure. Historically, the worst things can
happen in conference committee - even adding new elements to the
bill that were in neither the original House- nor Senate-passed
versions.

It's not uncommon to see spending bills that spend more money
than either the House or the Senate voted to pass.

Congress thinks you and I aren't watching anymore after the
initial bill passes so they always try to slip in pet projects
and more spending.

We could even see the RESTRICT Act appear in the "conference"
version of the NDAA.

That's why it's crucial you click here and send an e-postcard to
your representative and senators DEMANDING they repeal the
indefinite detention of Americans without charges - and keep the
RESTRICT Act and any digital ID scheme OUT.

Remember, these are bipartisan issues with support from lawmakers
in both parties.

But we have to contact them and all of their colleagues to keep
the pressure on.

Your e-postcard - combined with those of all the other supporters
of liberty out there - will help prove to politicians they better
defend our rights if they know what's good for them.

But I hope you won't stop there, Patriot. With your support,
Campaign for Liberty can do a lot more to flood Congress with
more postcards, emails, and phone calls.

When they return after Labor Day, we need to be ready to drop
thousands upon thousands of petitions and postcards in their
offices.

And we need to make sure more patriots are aware of these
important issues.

Identifying and reaching out to bring in new members and
supporters isn't free. Neither is mobilizing and delivering your
petitions to the Capitol.

We're waiting to find out which senators and representatives will
be appointed to the conference committee - and then we'll need to
target grassroots pressure on them.

That could happen at any time, and we simply must be ready for
this emergency mobilization.

Congress may be in recess until after Labor Day, but that doesn't
mean they aren't finagling behind the scenes and out of the
public eye.

The more resources we have, the more we can do, so if possible,
after contacting your representative and senators, follow up by
making your most generous donation today, whether it be $250 or
$100 or $25, to help us win this battle for good!

Thanks for all you do for Liberty,

John McCardell
Executive Director
Campaign for Liberty

P.S. Thanks to your support, we've made it farther than we ever
have to restore a fundamental constitutional right of Americans.

Let's do everything we can to win more victories in the National
Defense Authorization Act.

Sign your e-postard now and tell your representative and senators
to 1. Support a ban on indefinite detention of Americans, 2.
Reject the RESTRICT Act from being inserted into the NDAA, and 3.
Outright say "no" to any language to promote a Digital ID.

And then, please consider chipping in a donation of $10, $25,
$50, or more to help us keep the pressure on Congress to restore
the Constitution!
