Dear John,

We thank you so much for your prayers for missions in Africa. This year we are actively planning ten missions in African cities within DRC, Ethiopia, Togo, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Evangelists from Ghana, Ivory Coast and Zambia will be joining us in these, and it is all made possible and underpinned by your prayers and financial support. Africa is the fastest growing continent and the youngest, and if we are not there on mission and growing churches, people will be impacted by more extremism, corruption and traditional beliefs that are harmful. This young Continent needs hope in Jesus!

Missions are a complex and rewarding exercise, and God willing this year we will see an additional 100,000 people come to know Jesus (last year we recorded 120,000 people making commitments). We keep refining our processes so that we can more easily train churches and volunteers on the missions process and solid theology for outreach efforts.

In this edition of the prayer newsletter, we outline the 14 step stratified evangelism process, and ask that you would pray with us to effectively and efficiently introduce these to the cities this year and in years ahead.

Will you take time to pray for the effectiveness of each step with us? We really value your time to uplift as we take on this huge mission challenge.

1 Mapping the mission field (up to 24 months before the proclamation week) – pray AE will have wisdom in discerning whether a city is ready for a mission and then assessing the specific needs in partnership with the local Church.

2 Vision casting to the local church – pray that the Great Commission goals – going, telling, and disciple-making - would be accepted.

3 Establishing Mission Committees – pray that pastors in the city will lead across denominational lines.

4 Selecting and equipping preservation facilitators – pray that AE’s training on follow-up will be absorbed and implemented so that the spiritual harvest can be preserved.

5 Mobilising local evangelists (6 months prior) – pray that God will raise up many to pray and speak God’s word publically.

6 School of Evangelism (4 months prior) – pray that all involved will be able to know and tell the Gospel of Jesus accurately and effectively.

7 Preservation small groups (3 months prior) – pray that AE can form and strengthen preservation groups in local churches.

8 Mobilising the whole church to reach their neighbours – pray that all Christians involved will be passionate and prayerful for the lost around them.

9 The whole church serving the city (1 week prior) – pray for local Christians to be mobilised to serve their city in word and deed. This often involves cleaning the streets as a tangible image of hearts being cleansed.

10 Proclamation week – Pray that all spheres of the city will be reached with the evangelistic message.

11 Nurturing new believers – pray that each soul who responds will be followed up and discipled.

12 Advanced ministry training – pray that local Christians will develop a mission mindset towards their city.

13 Ongoing preservation training – pray that mission participants will be able to grow in their knowledge of the Bible.

14 Moving to the next city – pray for wisdom and fruitful partnerships with the local church.

It is with profound sadness that I bring you news of the passing on of our dear brother, Enoch Yohane Phiri, the immediate former Team Leader of AE Malawi on the 6th February of a stroke.

We praise the Lord for the memories we have of Enoch- as Africa's dancing evangelist - and one not ashamed of the Gospel. We give God the Glory for a life well lived and spent among us and in Evangelism.

We will always remember and cherish the moments we had with our dear brother. We remember his love for the Lord, for his people and for his mission.

While our hearts are heavy with grief, we also appreciate that Enoch has now moved into the permanent presence of the Saviour whom he loved and faithfully proclaimed.

　 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them" (Revelation 14:13).


Enoch is survived by his wife Dorothy, and seven grown up sons.
