“I was wrong.”
Frank Luntz, 2019
Dear John,
In 2001, a Republican pollster named Frank Luntz wrote a memo advising GOP candidates and politicians to “challenge the science” of climate change because their party had “lost the environmental communications battle.” What followed is what we experience today–the impact of 20 years of Republican denialism of climate change, Republican rollbacks and defunding of needed environmental programs, and GOP voters across the country believing a political strategy memo instead of the hard facts of science.
Climate Change is real. Our greenhouse gas emissions are rapidly heating the planet, and we have the power to prevent it.
In 2019, Frank Luntz admitted he was wrong and has since been advocating for the government to step in and take measures to prevent the human impact of climate change. But, if Republicans continue to hold the House majority in 2024, this will not happen.
On this last day of July, the hottest month on record that our world has experienced, I am asking you to support my campaign for re-election in 2024.
