Hey John,
Did you know that NIAC Action volunteers hold over 100 grassroots meetings with their elected officials in the House and Senate each year?
This August, as lawmakers head home for recess, we are lining up Congressional meetings across the country to advocate for:
Protecting Iranian-American Rights: We're working to pass H.R. 3597, introduced by Representatives Judy Chu and Al Green, to stop discriminatory state-level prohibitions against Iranians and Iranian Americans.
Opposing War: We're sharing our concerns regarding the military buildup in the Persian Gulf and why lawmakers must support diplomatic off-ramps from the path to a war that we absolutely oppose.
Promoting Internet Freedom and Human Rights: We're pushing Senators to pass S. Con Res. 2, supporting targeted sanctions on human rights abusers and urging tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon to utilize General License D-2 to support internet freedom in Iran.
Supporting Equitable Immigration: We're reiterating the need for increased visa and refugee processing for Iranians and ongoing concerns regarding the treatment of Iranian Americans at the border.
