Amy France exemplifies why she is this month's Ag Hero in her farm's motto: Faith, Family, Farming. That's what Kansas agriculture is all about: trusting in the Lord to provide, banding together as families in local communities, and staying committed to agriculture when the going gets tough.
Amy and her husband, Clint, run France Family Farms in Scott City, where they grow sorghum, wheat, corn, and soybeans and raise cattle. They believe in a hands-on approach while raising their children on the farm. Over the years, they have strived to help their kids learn about the basics of agriculture by adding chickens, bees, a greenhouse, and a pumpkin patch to serve their community. They've all had to pitch in with farming, harvesting, and day-to-day farm chores.
Amy goes beyond the work of her family farm to advocate for agriculture on a national level. Amy was the first woman elected to the National Sorghum Producers' board of directors, where she now serves as Vice Chair. She is a leader in the Kansas Farm Bureau and a graduate of the American Farm Bureau's Partners in Advocacy Leadership program. Amy is dedicated to empowering women in agriculture, and she is an inspiration to many young women who aspire to become agricultural leaders. She and her family are very involved in Scott City and surrounding communities. Amy's favorite scripture for those long, discouraging days is Romans 12:12 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
Amy and Clint are proud parents of Caleb and his wife Kennedie, Madison, Delaney, Calli, Jury, and two grandchildren, Prim and Holt.
