Where did July go? I can’t believe it’s already the 31st. This was perhaps our busiest and most consequential month yet in D.C. But as a result, we’ve fallen behind on the campaign front.
It’s not cause for panic – but it is cause for great concern. Until this month, we’d been doing well: we achieved our goal for the 2nd Quarter. Yet right now is an absolutely critical stretch for our reelection.
A month without points on the board is exactly the opening the National Democrats are looking for. That’s why I have to humbly ask:
The nature of a campaign is once you get in a hole, it can be hard to get out. Our adversaries know this. If they see we’re in a hole they’ll waste no time trying to bury us. And the reality is, that’s exactly where we’ll be without an overpowering show of support today.
I can promise you this: every dollar you donate will be put to good use. We have possibly the most efficient campaign operation in the country. Our funding comes directly from you, individual citizen donors, and we treat those funds as precious.
I know your support is an expression of your values – your belief that our state and country are worth fighting for. You are making a personal sacrifice for our cause. That is something deeply meaningful to me.
Unlike others in Congress, I still sign every thank you note by hand. I want to remember the name of every supporter and personally express my gratitude. I couldn’t be here without you. Our state and country have hope because of you.
If you have been a loyal supporter, thank you so much. Your help has gotten us to this point and
your support today will enable me keep fighting.
That’s because your support is the ultimate deterrent. It tells our adversaries not to do battle in our district because it’s not one they can win. That’s why I say you are providing armor: it’s what empowers me to fight for our country without holding back.
But if we don’t have that armor, it will weaken our efforts in the present. It will open up the possibility for our movement to be cut short in the near future. It will risk handing the entire House back over to the Democrats, since ours was the majority-making 218th seat.
With the stakes so high for our country, this is the worst possible moment to let our momentum stall. You can keep it going, you can give me the armor I need, you can assure we are at full strength for the monumental battles ahead.
Thank you!
Kevin
