Delivering clean water to 550,000 people
In May 2021, Mt. Nyiragongo erupted in eastern DRC, near the Rwanda border. Lava flowed towards the city of Goma, damaging the Bushara neighborhood’s water reservoir and pipeline. Mercy Corps has been working to repair the water supply and has now restored clean water for more than 550,000 people.
