Nothing will get better with inaction. Tell Biden to declare a climate emergency.
John,
Could this be the hottest summer ever? The ocean temperature in South Florida reached 101.1 degrees. And with scorching temperatures in the U.S. and worldwide, July is expected to be the hottest month experienced in 120,000 years! And summer isn’t over yet.
Our world is getting hotter, and with extreme weather — floods, record heat, wildfires, rising ocean temperatures, droughts, and stronger storms — everyone is feeling the changing climate. This doesn’t have to be our "new normal" if we act now.
The only way to turn the tide is to stop burning dangerous greenhouse gases and end the era of fossil fuels. On September 17th, we are joining others in the March to End Fossil Fuels, but we don’t have to wait until then to make our voices heard.
With more pipelines (like the Mountain Valley Pipeline) and power plants being built, the future might seem daunting, but we are making progress. Food & Water Watch, along with activists like you, have stopped dozens of fossil fuel projects. We have even more climate champions in Congress, and our movement to ban fracking and end fossil fuels continues to grow.
We need to keep pushing because nothing will get better with inaction. We need President Biden and Congress to step up immediately.
This would allow us to reinstate the crude oil export ban, end new fossil fuel projects and drilling, redirect disaster relief funds toward distributed renewable energy construction in frontline communities, and marshal companies to fast-track renewable transportation and clean power generation. All while creating millions of high-quality union jobs.
Food & Water Watch and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Action, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
