Honoring the Life of Deputy Tyee Browne
Last week, I spoke on the House Floor to honor the life of Crisp County Sheriff's Deputy Tyee Browne, who lost his life in the line of duty on July 10th at the age of 26.
Deputy Browne was a graduate of Mary Persons High School in Monroe County, and served the Crisp County community with the Sheriff's Department for less than a year before he was shot and killed during a traffic stop of a stolen vehicle.
Before serving Crisp County, he served our nation in the Army National Guard and dedicated his life to protecting others. His service is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make daily to keep our communities safe.
To the family of Deputy Tyee Browne, I offer my deep condolences on behalf of Georgia's Eighth District. I also thank Sheriff Billy Hancock and the Crisp County Sheriff's Department for their continued dedication to protecting our district.

Meeting with Georgia FFA
I met with the Georgia FFA State Officer team as they began their year of service. The Georgia FFA Association is the third largest state association in the country, with more than 80,000 student members. I enjoyed visiting with these future leaders of the agriculture industry as we discussed how we can best serve agriculture in DC.

Voting for Legislation that Supports GA Military
On Thursday, I voted in favor of the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which provides funding for military construction, veterans affairs, and related agencies. This legislation passed the House by a vote of 218-211.
This bill fully funds veterans’ health care and veterans’ benefits and VA programs while reducing overall spending. It not only funds our servicemembers who have served but also provides critical funding for quality-of-life provisions for our active members and their families.
Specifically to the state of Georgia, this bill appropriates $22 million for a new Security Forces Facility at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, $35 million for phase one of the Battle Management Combined Operations Complex at Robins Air Force Base, and $80 million for phase one of the Cyber Instructional Facility at Fort Gordon.
