ACLU Supporter, too many lives are lost, injuries inflicted, and Black communities scarred all due to police brutality. But everyone deserves to be safe – including from police violence. And to achieve true public safety, it means not only holding police accountable, but investing in our communities as well. Our decades-long commitment to ending police violence includes programs like the ACLU of Louisiana's Justice Lab, which offers pro-bono legal services to provide redress for the victims of racist policing. Read up on this crucial work now.
The Justice Lab has filed more than 50 cases so far to put racist policing on trial – providing legal support for clients including Anthony Monroe, who was beaten by two Louisiana state troopers during a traffic stop. "You shouldn't have freedom to abuse people like that in the United States no matter where you live," Anthony told the ACLU. We're working to seek justice for clients like Anthony and put a stop to the racist policing that devastates Black, Indigenous, and people of color across the country. Dive into the ACLU's work in Louisiana and nationwide today. Thanks for reading, The ACLU Team |
