We're emailing to ask for something a little different than usual, and we hope you'll keep reading to hear why.

Tonight at midnight, we're facing an important end-of-month fundraising deadline, and as of this morning, we're pacing a bit behind where we need to be.

While our number of grassroots contributions has stayed strong throughout July, over the past week the average value of those contributions has dropped.

Significantly.

Nearly $5.25 each compared to earlier in the month.

Now, we know $5.25 doesn't seem like the kind of money that'd call for red flags and alarm bells. But when you fund a campaign the way we do — with lots and lots of small-dollar contributions from lots and lots of people — the difference adds up very fast.

The way we see it, we have two options today if we're going to close the gap. Either we…

generate a LOT more contributions from a LOT more people, or…
ask our supporters to chip in (even slightly!) more than we usually would
