Yesterday, I emailed you and told you that on a campaign like this one, each goal we set is only as good as the one that comes after it. In a way, this campaign is all about looking ahead, toward the future—it’s certainly about thinking past tomorrow and building a government that plans for the long-term. A government that’s ready for more than just the challenges we’re facing here, today, in 2023.
I like to think this campaign operates the same way—that we’re not just thinking about this month, or this quarter, or even this primary (if we have one). We’re looking ahead to next November. Right now, I think that’s going to be an election between myself as the Democratic nominee and Rep. John Bradford as the GOP nominee—but it’s important to be ready for anything.
We have to be able to adapt and be flexible, and unfortunately, in our modern politics, that means having money. Money to combat attacks and misinformation, money to share our campaign’s central message, money to meet voters where they are. The goal we hit at the end of last month was a good start, and it will go a long way toward showing the political establishment that we mean business, but it can’t be the end. We can’t afford to sit on our laurels.
Tonight is our July end-of-month fundraising deadline. It’s not a reporting deadline—we won’t report again until the end of the year—but it’s critical that we hit our internal benchmarks. I’ll be frank: I’d love to raise $4,166.25 today to keep on track for our next big goal.
That might seem like a lift, but the good news is that if everyone who opened this email gave just $15 to our campaign, we’d not only hit that number, we’d blow right past it. Even $5 or $10 would help us get there, though. Because this is a grassroots campaign, we’re relying on individual contributors just like you. You’re the backbone of this movement—so can I count on you to help us make this lift?
