Friend,
I am sure you have seen coverage regarding the chaos on Twitter. Millions of people regularly use the platform to share ideas, engage with each other, and keep up with current events. Whether or not the website retains its little blue bird logo or re-brands to the third-to-last letter of the alphabet, it will continue to be an important forum and serve as the internet’s public square.
Since 2020, MCFN, in its mission of "following the money in Michigan politics," has hosted a free service on Twitter that automatically reports in real time new PAC registrations, new lobbyist registration (or termination), large late contributions to U.S. House candidate campaigns, new State House and Senate filings, new ballot committee filings, and candidate-level data for every candidate for elected State office on @MCFNalerts. Unfortunately, the service stopped running last month due to changes to Twitter’s API and pricing strategy.
In order to get this important and highly demanded service back up and running, I am asking for you to make a recurring or single contribution. Contributions made on the page linked below will go specifically to getting @MCFNalerts back up and running, and anything we are able to raise above Twitter's fees will go directly toward building out new features for the bot. The more we raise, the better a service MCFN's alerts will be.
Make a contribution to keep @MCFNalerts running ([link removed])
Thank you for your continued support and helping us follow the money.
Sincerely,
Nick Pigeon
Executive Director
