We are so close, John:
Earlier this week, I shared that we were falling short of our budget to send 350.org climate organizers to communities most impacted by the climate crisis in the U.S.
Since then, our climate movement of grassroots supporters has really stepped up to help — as of right now, we are only $3,800 away from fully funding this trip.
If everyone who reads this email chipped in tonight, we would close our fundraising gap in a matter of minutes. So if you are one of the people who can afford to chip in, I really hope you'll consider doing so, especially tonight:
Your contribution this evening will mean climate organizers at 350.org are able to meet frontline communities face-to-face, hear about the experience, and support their local efforts. That is the kind of climate organizing that will truly dismantle the fossil fuel industry.
Thank you for reading this important fundraising update.
More soon,
- Jeff
P.S. For more details, you can read my original message below.
I won't lie to you, John:
Even though scientists predicted the massive flooding and extreme heat we are experiencing, it's still a terrifying wake-up call to see it right in front of us.
And what's even scarier is that if we don't take drastic action now, our children and grandchildren will suffer a reality on this planet that is far, far worse.
The single most important thing we can do right now is turn our fear and anger into action. We KNOW that fossil fuel companies are responsible for destroying our planet, and if we are going to turn things around, we have to act now.
As I write this email, climate organizers at 350.org are preparing to get on the road to mobilize communities around the country in the fight against fossil fuels. We're hoping to add some critical stops on the trip to meet with frontline communities who need our support, but right now, our budget is falling short and we are at risk of having to scale back our plans.
That is why I am asking you to make a $3.50 contribution today so we can grow our climate movement across the country and defeat the fossil fuel industry:
There is nothing more powerful than when climate organizers are able to meet with communities face-to-face, hear about their experience, and support their local efforts. Quite frankly, it is this on-the-ground organizing that gives me hope that we can turn things around for the climate crisis.
Here are a few of the places we're hoping to add to the trip. Your $3.50 contribution will help climate organizers get to each place:
I know that this isn't the first time that I've asked you to donate, and it won't be the last. But please know that every time I send an email like this it is because we genuinely do rely on the support of people like you.
The truth is that none of this work is possible without you. So thank you for supporting this important trip today. All of us here at 350.org are thanking you, John.
In solidarity,
Jeff Ordower
