Team — we’re facing a big fundraising deadline tomorrow, and in a moment I’m going to ask you to pitch in and help us catch up to our fundraising goal. But first I want to tell you a bit about how we got here, and why your support now counts for so much:

The fact is, when I talk to my colleagues in Congress, I don’t encounter a lot of people who walked the path that I did to get there.

I was born into a working class family here in Colorado – my mom was a hairdresser, and my dad worked in construction.

When my mom was prescribed opioids after a back injury, kicking off a decades-long battle with addiction, things for our family were hard. But with the support of some incredible teachers — and because my community invested in high-quality, public education — I became the first person in my family to graduate from high school and college.

I got to work for my community, and eventually won a hard-fought race to serve in the Colorado legislature, working to ensure that future Coloradoans could enjoy the same opportunities I did. And after ten years representing JeffCo in the State House and Senate, I ran for Congress here in CO-07 to bring the fight to Washington.

I ran for Congress to deliver for the families whose needs are so often going overlooked in the halls of Congress — and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together these first few months. But we’ve got a LONG way to go, and I have no plans to slow down.

If we’re going to keep up the fight to lift up working-class families, combat our nation’s opioid epidemic, and protect basic freedoms like the freedom to choose, then we need to win this next election, friend. Can you chip in $20 before our critical end-of-month fundraising deadline tomorrow to help my team continue to reach voters in communities across CO-07?
