“What will you do with the money if I donate?”

Here at the DNC, we get the privilege of talking to supporters across the country every day, and this is often one of the first things we’re asked. It’s a fair question!

If you’ve had this question on your mind, we want to give you a look into what the DNC is doing -- right now -- to support Democratic campaigns and win elections. If you already know what the DNC is doing and where your money is going, I’d really appreciate it if you’d chip in $7 to support our critical work.

Every State Party. Every Race. Every Year:

The DNC is the only party committee responsible for electing Democrats from local office to the Oval Office. We do that by sending resources to state parties, who then can use the funds we send them to invest in local elections like school board and state legislative seats. They can also make long-term investments in vital programs like voter protection services or hire more staff.

Here’s a recent example: This spring, we sent the Pennsylvania Democratic Party resources to help win an election in state house district 163. Not only did Democratic candidate Heather Boyd win by 3,000 votes, but Democrats also held onto control of the General Assembly. Your donations help ensure our partners on the ground have everything they need to maintain strong and consistent resources and presence in every state. Every year, millions of dollars are given to guarantee investments in electoral infrastructure, which brings us to our next point ⬇️

Infrastructure Is Not Just a Buzzword:

We talk a lot about “electoral infrastructure” in these kinds of emails, but let’s dive into exactly what that means.

Infrastructure is everything from dollars and staff, to data and tech tools, access to our continuously updated and ever growing voter file, fighting to ensure voter protections, and so much more. Everything and anything that goes into making a campaign run, ensuring our volunteers feel encouraged and supported, protecting the right to vote, etc. is infrastructure. Thanks to the DNC’s infrastructure (and folks like you who helped us build it!), campaigns can easily lay the necessary groundwork and get straight to work.

If campaigns had to do all of this on their own, their work to win votes would be delayed, and time is a precious resource for campaigns. The DNC wants to make sure that candidates are doing what they do best -- talking to voters and getting their message out there.

We know that was a lot to read. But we’re giving you all this information because we need dedicated supporters like you to know that your hard-earned money is really making a difference.
