John,
While we’re fighting for a future that includes us all, Republicans in Congress are attempting to roll back critical victories that put people over corporate profits.
Last year, we fought for and won provisions in the Inflation Reeducation Act that:
-
Allow Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices;
-
Cap the cost of insulin at $35;
-
Put a cap on out-of-pocket costs for Medicare Part D medications;
-
Make recommended vaccines free for Medicare beneficiaries;
-
And, require drug corporations to pay rebates to Medicare if they raise their prices faster than inflation.
But those critical protections are now under threat by pharmaceutical corporations and their bought-and-paid for elected officials in Congress. While Republicans are seeking to gut Medicare and Medicaid to pay for tax breaks for their wealthy donors, Big Pharma is suing the federal government in an attempt to block these critical protections from going into effect.
Big Pharma is raking in massive profits while paying roughly half the tax rate of everyday working people. And they want to protect their obscene profits at all costs.
Today, on Medicare’s 58th birthday, chip in to fight back against Big Pharma’s greed and fight to strengthen Medicare and Medicaid for the next 58 years.

John,
Wow! This week we sent more than 32,500 messages directly to the CEOs of Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and PhRMA (the lobbying arm of Big Pharma), demanding they drop their greedy lawsuits which seek to stop Medicare from negotiating drug prices.
When Democrats and President Biden enacted the Inflation Reduction Act last year, they implemented critical protections for older Americans, including allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices for the first time in two decades.
But Big Pharma and their bought-and-paid for politicians in Congress are seeking to gut Medicare and Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and protect pharmaceutical corporations’ profits.
On Medicare and Medicaid’s 58th birthday, chip in to fight back against Big Pharma price gouging, and fight to strengthen Medicare and Medicaid for generations to come.
Over the last five years, the 10 largest pharmaceutical corporations have raked in $448 billion in profits while paying tax rates that are roughly half that of regular working people.[1] They’re seeking to protect their obscene profits at all cost, even though it would mean that Americans continue to pay twice as much for prescription drugs as people in other industrialized countries.[2]
Donate today to fight back against Big Pharma greed and fight to defend and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid for the next 58 years.
