Folks, can I take a moment to reflect with you?
This summer, our grantees have been busy working to make their communities a better place, and fighting on the frontlines of some of the biggest battles for our democracy.
In Alabama, our grantees rallied for a fair and just redistricting process after the Supreme Court ruled that the Republican-drawn congressional districts discriminated against Black Alabamians. This fight is still ongoing, now that Alabama Republicans shoved through a new district map proposal that still doesn’t meet the Supreme Court’s bare minimum requirements.
In Mississippi, our grantees are gearing up for a major governor’s election, and in West Virginia, folks are getting ready for a Senate race that could determine majority control of the entire chamber.
And in Oklahoma, our grantees are demanding accountability from corrupt state leaders and preparing for what could be another major Supreme Court case regarding taxpayer-funded religious charter schools.
As you can see, a lot is going on, and the work truly never stops for our hyper-local organizers.
To help support them and the important work ahead, can you please contribute toward our end-of-month fundraising goal? Groundwork Project is powered by this grassroots team, and it would mean a lot to me to earn your support before July is over.
