Energy and Commerce
Full Committee Markup
The Energy and Commerce Committee advanced six pieces of legislation recently approved by the Communications and Technology Subcommittee and the Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee, both of which I am a member.
During the markup, I spoke in support of the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act—which I co-introduced—to ensure Americans, not bureaucrats, choose what car is best for them. This bill stops EPA’s current light-and medium-duty vehicle regulation and instead allows consumers and the market to determine the cars and engine technology they want available—not the federal government.

Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce Hearing
"Self-Driving Vehicle Legislative Framework: Enhancing Safety, Improving Lives and Mobility, and Beating China"
Congressional action on the development of self-driving vehicles is a matter of national security. Allowing China to lead in the development of autonomous vehicles (AVs) would cause serious damage to our automotive and technology sectors.
As an entrepreneur, one of the reasons I came to Congress was to make sure that the federal government supports our startup industries and is not a roadblock. For AV companies to be able to prove their value in the free market, they must be allowed to sell their vehicles.
