Dear John,

This week, wejoined a global task force to address the alarming surge in antisemitism, thanked Ontario Ministers for investing in the safety of the Jewish community, and reflected on the dangerous links between anti-Israel sentiment and antisemitism.

The CIJA Team

“What starts with the Jews never ends with the Jews. There is a global imperative to confront antisemitism, and drawing on the expertise and strength of the J7 coalition is an important catalyst for universal action.” – Shimon Koffler Fogel, President and Chief Executive Officer, CIJA

In response to a rise in antisemitic incidents and attitudes around the world, major Jewish organizations in seven countries announced the formation of the J7, The Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism.

CIJA will represent Canada’s Jewish community at meetings with representatives from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Argentina, and Australia about developing a global and coordinated strategy to address the collective challenge of antisemitism and to share best practices to fight antisemitism and protect the quality of Jewish life around the world. Beyond consultation, the coalition will form working groups, leveraging expertise from each community to shape action plans and strategies.

Following months of consultation with the Government of Ontario, CIJA and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto met with Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism Michael Ford and Solicitor General Michael Kerzner at UJA’s Sherman Campus to discuss the expanded eligibility of the Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant <[link removed]> and how it impacts Ontario’s Jewish community.

We applaud the Government of Ontario for its dedication to combating antisemitism, exemplified by itsexpansion of the Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant to respond to the increasing security needs of the Jewish community and all other communities targeted by hate.

Applications for the AHSP Grant are now open. For program details, including full eligibility criteria, and to apply, visit here. <[link removed]>

CIJA’s Eta Yudin, Vice President, Quebec, reflects in a powerful French-language op-ed on recent developments in Montreal surrounding links between antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment, the need to fight against hatred and intolerance, and what we can learn from Israeli President Isaac Herzog's recent address to the United States Congress.

We have a big choice to make about antisemitism – ignore its impact and walk away or come together to push back against it.

CIJA and Canada's Jewish Federations are pushing back.

Antisemitism: Face It, Fight It will transform you from a passive victim to an engaged activist focused on the single-most important challenge we face today: antisemitism.

Join the Jewish community from across Canada as we unite our voices and empower ourselves to show up, speak up, and step up against Jew-hatred.

Will you be there?
