Those lessons are on full display today and all month long, as we commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In that spirit, I invite residents to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this pivotal civil rights legislation and the ways in which Cook County carries on its legacy today.Enacted in 1990, the ADA stands as a cornerstone against discrimination, ensuring equal access and opportunities for people with disabilities in vital areas like employment, transportation, public accommodations and state and local government programs. As we emerge from a pandemic, it's essential that we collectively reaffirm our commitment to breaking barriers and empowering all residents to achieve their full potential.
