Dear Friend,

This is the hottest July in human history. The climate crisis is at our doorstep. Record-breaking extreme heat is causing death and unprecedented danger across the globe. But it’s not hopeless. We must transition away from carbon-emitting fossil fuels to 100% clean energy.

Despite the oil and gas industry pursuing a dangerous greenwashing campaign to delay climate actions, Earthjustice is fighting back. Earthjustice is at the center of dozens of legal battles that will accelerate our transition. We are winning key battles, breaking down regulatory hurdles, and pushing federal and state agencies to protect our environment and shut down fossil fuel projects. And we couldn’t do this without you. It is with the help of your advocacy and speaking up for your values that we can get this far. Thank you.

We need you to stay in these fights. Please click here to take all of the actions below on one page.

Tell the EPA to finalize strong power plant pollution standards

For too long, fossil-burning power plants have had a free pass to pollute. Coal and gas-fired power plants are responsible for more than 30% of U.S. carbon pollution, and they also emit other pollutants that harm our air, water, and health. And yet, there are almost no limits on the amount of climate-warming pollution these plants emit. You can help change that.

Build a clean and equitable electricity grid now

As we move towards a 100% clean energy future, we need to urgently build more power lines to move clean energy across the country. Thousands of renewable energy projects in various stages of development are waiting years for approval to connect to the U.S. electric grid. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has a critical role to play in accelerating the transmission infrastructure we need to meet U.S. climate commitments.

Electrify the Postal Service

In December, the Postal Service committed to electrifying most of its new fleet, and to only buy electric trucks after 2026. At the time we celebrated the news and the successful efforts of Earthjustice supporters like you. Now it’s time to put those commitments into law.

Stop fossil fuel facilities before they’re even built

The fossil fuel industry has aggressive plans to lock in new oil and gas infrastructure in the form of crude oil and gas export terminals. Off the Texas and Louisiana coasts in the Gulf of Mexico, Earthjustice is challenging the proposed construction of four offshore deepwater ports, which would cause significant greenhouse gas emissions and pose significant health and environmental risks for Gulf Coast communities. We must stop fossil fuel facilities before they’re even built. Tell the Biden administration: Protect our communities and our climate and reject the proposals to build several new offshore deepwater ports throughout the Gulf of Mexico.
