(HEALTHCARE!) 2020 SPOUSE ELIGIBILITY AUDIT IS IN PROGRESS NOW -
RESPONSE DUE BY MARCH 31, 2020
If you do not respond, or if documentation provided is not sufficient,
coverage for your spouse as identified in Plan records will be
terminated as soon as administratively practicable following the end of
the audit period (March 31, 2020).
Beginning January 1, 2020, The Railroad Employees National Health and
Welfare Plan and The National Railway Carriers and United
Transportation Union (NRC/UTU) Health and Welfare Plan (each a "Plan")
began conducting a spouse eligibility audit, administered by Railroad
Enrollment Services.
With just over a month left for this audit, it is imperative that you
respond to this request if you have not already done so. Railroad
employees covered under either of the above Plans are required to
submit proper documentation by March 31, 2020 verifying their marital
status in order for their spouses (and any stepchildren associated with
the marriage) to remain covered.
Employees should have received an initial mailing in December
explaining the audit process with instructions on how to respond, the
Plan's definition of a spouse, and preferred documents for
verification.
If an employee does not respond to the audit request in accordance with
the instructions provided, their spouse (and any stepchildren
associated with the marriage, if applicable) will be terminated from
the medical, dental, and vision plans as soon as administratively
practicable.
Employees can contact Railroad Enrollment Services at 1-800-753-2692
with questions about the audit.
