Hey, friends!
It's time! I've got the details on our plan for Election 2024: True Texans Taking Charge!
Honestly, we've got SO much going on, this flyer is just a rough draft. We'll get you something better asap (especially as we set actual dates for some of these things). You can also check our website where we've created a special page just for ELECTION 2024! Here are a few highlights:
Candidate training - whether you're thinking about running, already committed, or plan to help someone else, come join a panel of experts in our Candidate Webinar on Aug 24. It's free, but you must register here to get the link.
Townhalls - we're working on your faves... Beth Van Duyne (Nov in Dallas), Ronny Jackson (Nov in Denton), Chip Roy (TBD in Bexar or Hill Country), and Ted Cruz (TBD)
Forums - we're taking opposing views -- not with the Democrats, but with ourselves! Come hear two sides to the issues presented by folks on the Right vs folks on the Right! Should the GOP embrace LGBT? Should Texas expand gambling? Should pot be legalized? All this and more!
Trainings - Don't miss our monthly meetings because at each one from now til the end of 2024, we're adding a key How-To training topic. We've asked experts to share how we can help protect elections, how to navigate the GOP convention process, how to vet candidates, how to start and utilize a PAC, and so many more!
Ballot Recommendations - Of course, as we do in every election, we'll list voting recommendations for races all over the state. Those will be up by February, if not sooner. AND, we are hoping to have a plan in place for you to pass these lists out to your Republican neighbors.
Monthly Meetings - Throughout all of this we will continue with our monthly meetings, bringing in incredible speakers so that you can be educated and ready to engage. Even better, all of our speakers are asked to share action items so you don't just listen and go home with no results!
Candidate Coordinators - We are recruiting one person at each location to help us schedule candidate interviews, blockwalks, poll workers and donations. Join our leadership team by replying to this email! No experience necessary.
Guys, our scheduler Olivia and I, along with the rest of our team, have been working SO HARD to get these things planned. Take advantage of all True Texas Project has to offer. We are simply a grassroots organization of volunteers working together to save Texas. We are super proud of these plans, but it only matters if we get to share it with YOU! If you keep coming, we'll keep planning. 🙂
First Up!
I just shared with you a huge list of all we've got going on for the election. I'm not stupid. 😉 I know most of you will have only glanced over it and plan to reread it later, if that. That's why it's important I call your attention to this:
Share this event! All candidates and supporters need to join in, so get those RSVPs registered. Right now!
Fran's Friday Message for Citizen Advocates
This week's Friday Message was about several things you need to know.
***We're definitely planning to do a trip to the Capitol on Sept 5thfor the impeachment trial, so save the date!***

Now take a look at this month at a glance! There's one calendar for social activities and one for our monthly meetings. Plus we have a special line-up for our Dallas location through the end of the year that anyone is welcome to attend (more details on why Dallas here)!
Thanks for reading! If you have questions, tips, or encouragement for us, just reply to this email.

PS. This week my friend Mark Goloby had the most clever way of helping us look at that property tax relief that we're supposed to be fawning over.
Tax relief? Whatever.
They increased spending more than spending has ever been increased in the history of the Texas legislature. They had an insane amount of cash overflow they could have returned to us. Instead they gave us a minimal "relief" package and want us to sing their praises. (And let's not forget how Abbott called a special session and talked a big talk about ending property tax... and then never delivered on it, but instead quietly signed the new law without any fanfare - for good reason).
Mark compared this "relief" to a cup of coffee.
When politicians want us to donate to their campaigns, they tell us, "Just $5. Can you sacrifice your daily coffee to save Texas?" They emphasize how small that amount is. Just $5. Well guess what... that's all the property tax relief amounts to... and it won't even apply to all of us!
Thanks for the perfect analogy, Mark! Nobody's singing about that in my house. How 'bout you?
