I'm excited about the progress being made in this era of new therapies. Two treatments have received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval which could meaningfully change the course of this disease for people living with early Alzheimer's.
As you read about new advancements in research, however, you may have noticed that treatments becoming available now are only effective for treating people living with early Alzheimer's. That shows the progress we are making but also how much more we need to do to ensure that effective treatments are available to more people at every stage of the disease — until there is a cure.
Because you're a part of our Alzheimer's Association community, I'm sure you understand the number of people living with Alzheimer's is increasing each year, and our own risk is growing as we age.
It's urgent that, together, we continue making strides toward our goal: drive breakthrough research and make sure everyone has access to early detection and accurate diagnosis, treatment, and care and support.
When you make your first gift to our 2023 Summer Annual Fund Drive today, you will:
- Provide real-time answers and support for people caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer's or another dementia through our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) and online, with resources like our Alzheimer's Navigator® tool.
- Advance critical Alzheimer's and dementia research through our current investment in over 1,000 active best-of-field projects in 53 countries so that one day we may realize our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.
- Advocate for public policies that will increase federal research funding and urge policymakers to make FDA-approved treatments accessible and affordable to everyone without restrictions or limitations.
Friend, it's extremely urgent that we raise funds now to help provide care and support and to accelerate research. Just think of the millions who are living with Alzheimer's today, and the millions more who will face this devastating disease in the coming years.
It will touch our communities. It may touch our families. The terrible impact of Alzheimer's compels each of us to get the most out of every day and to spend all the time we can with those we love. It also drives us to do all we can to help. Right now, the most important way you can support our fight is by contributing to our 2023 Summer Annual Fund Drive.
With gratitude,
Donna McCullough
Chief Mission and Field Operations Officer
P.S. There are less than 48 hours until our 2023 Summer Annual Fund Drive ends at midnight tomorrow. Please show your commitment by making your first gift now and take advantage of this important opportunity to advance our vital work year-round.
