Hi John,
On Wednesday night, we sent a message to Kyrsten Sinema…

And yesterday she submitted to community pressure and joined leaders in cosponsoring a heat-relief bill!! This is a big win for Arizona. The bill will create a $100 million financial assistance program for our communities who have endured over four straight weeks of deadly 110+ degree temperatures. This victory follows years of Sunrisers applying pressure on Sinema.

This is just the beginning, John. Sunrisers are gathering Monday morning outside of Rep. Schweikert’s office to demand that he join leaders supporting extreme heat relief and declaring a climate emergency.
Arizona needs climate disaster relief RIGHT NOW. People are dying and our hospitals are surging with people seeking care for heat-related illnesses. Our home is on fire and our leaders need to act like it.
Scientists have declared these intensified heatwaves as “virtually impossible” without climate change. If we’re going to make it out of this, we need our leaders to both provide immediate relief AND a long-term solution to the climate crisis.
That’s where declaring a climate emergency comes in. A climate emergency means more than just recognizing the crisis. It provides millions in relief to frontline communities all while creating good paying jobs and building resilient communities.
