It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has been wholly evasive in responding to our inquiries made last fall by Congressman Tom Emmer and other Minnesota Members into the Feeding Our Future scandal and abuse in USDA meal programs. That’s why I joined them in sending a follow-up letter demanding answers and accountability. The allegations that Feeding Our Future defrauded the USDA of over $250 million, with an increasing number of individuals charged and pleading guilty, are deeply troubling. We must pursue the reasons why such fraud went undetected for as long as it did. Minnesotans deserve full transparency on how their tax dollars were misused at the expense of vulnerable children and families.
The American people deserve the utmost confidence in our elections. That’s why I am proud to co-sponsor the American Confidence in Elections Act (ACE Act), which will empower states to require proof of citizenship during voter registration, safeguarding against potential illegal activities. Additionally, the bill extends the ban on foreign national contributions and expenditures to state and local ballot initiatives, protecting our democratic processes from foreign influence. As Americans, we expect free and fair elections without fear of fraud. By bolstering election integrity, the ACE Act is a step in rebuilding trust in our democracy.
Recent revelations brought forth by IRS whistleblowers show that the charges against Hunter Biden should've been way more serious. We need to protect the rule of law by holding all individuals, regardless of their name or status, accountable for their actions. This week, the judicial branch exercised its constitutional authority to question the two-tiered system of justice fostered by the Biden DOJ and rejected the “sweetheart plea deal.” The American people deserve the unvarnished truth, and I will continue to work with my fellow House Republicans to get answers and accountability for the American people.
Finally, I’d like to congratulate the 2023 Farm Fest Woman Farmer of the Year finalists from the Seventh District: Kari Olson of Hawley and Rachelle Krienke of Lester Prairie. Thank you both for your commitment to the agricultural community and for making our community proud. Good luck next week at Farm Fest!
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
