Hi friends, did you see this headline from Politico?
In the wake of that crucial FEC fundraising deadline we had last month, it’s becoming crystal clear that House Republican incumbents and candidates have been raking in heaps of cash.
And while I’ve been optimistic about our chances at regaining a House majority in 2024 (after all, the margin is just five seats!) this trend is genuinely worrying to me. It’s not just a matter of party line politics - Democrats are up against MAGA Republicans whose extreme beliefs just don’t reflect our American values.
Look at my opponent Bill Wells for one clear example: He opposes abortion under all circumstances, wants to overturn marriage equality, and thinks climate change is a hoax. And extreme, anti-science, Donald Trump-worshipping candidates just like Wells are going to be on ballots all across the country next November - with the financial backing of the National Republican Congressional Committee, of course.
That’s why we can’t sit on the sidelines in my race or any other - there’s just too much at stake.
Big victories - like flipping the House - are usually reached through incremental progress, so my team and I have set a goal to raise an additional $2,500 through email by midnight on July 31st to pave the way for next year. Will you pitch in $5, $10, or whatever you can to help get us there and support my re-election campaign?
If we’re going to retake the House in 2024, Democratic incumbents like myself are going to have to step up our fundraising efforts to hold our ground. Winning a majority will require an all-around approach - like raising funds early on so we can map out a strategy to connect with voters and offering our support for like-minded Democrats who are running for crucial Republican-held seats.
Please, chip in any amount towards our $2,500 email fundraising goal to help build a strong re-election campaign, fend off my MAGA opponent, and use this platform to support other Democrats in the months ahead.
Thanks so much for your support.
