Hi John,

The Census determines your community’s representation in government at all levels and the amount of federal funding it receives, so it’s critical that everyone is counted. Although Census Day isn’t until April 1, the nationwide count officially began on January 21 in Toksook Bay, Alaska. Some rural parts of the northernmost state are easiest to reach in the winter when the ground is still frozen – census workers use bush planes, snowmobiles, and yes, even dog sleds [[link removed]] to make sure every person is counted!
