Friend, this BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re working to highlight the unique disparities BIPOC communities face when it comes to mental health care access.
Learn More: Navigating Stigma ([link removed])

We sat down with Karen Kennedy, a beloved member of the Trevor community, to hear her story of navigating mental health stigma in the Black community and her own family. When her son was eight years old, he was diagnosed with ADHD. Karen made the decision not to share his diagnosis with friends, family, or teachers in an effort to protect him from labeling or victimization. But she was disappointed to find that there were few mental health professionals who had experience working with children of color.

** “Mental health stigma persists and can hinder people from seeking the support and care they need,” Karen says. “By fighting against stigma, we can foster a supportive and fair environment for mental health in BIPOC communities.”
