Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter Have questions? Contact Me Here President Biden MUST be Impeached It was a major week for our investigation into President Biden and the entire Biden Crime Family. So far, we've uncovered concrete evidence that President Biden has been using his troubled son Hunter as a proxy to enrich himself and his family with shady business deals in China, Ukraine, and other countries. We have heard from IRS, FBI, and DOJ officials that not only was the Biden Family's conduct concerning to law enforcement, but senior officials at these agencies worked to minimize the investigations and cover-up on behalf of the President. As part of our Ways and Means investigation, we heard from two highly credible IRS whistleblowers about Joe and Hunter Biden's business dealings with foreign countries and Hunter Biden's failure to pay $1 million in taxes on $8.3 million in earnings. On Tuesday, the eve of Hunter Biden's court date to accept his sweetheart plea deal, Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith submitted the IRS whistleblower testimony to Federal Judge Maryellen Noreika, who ultimately rejected Hunter Biden's plea deal after receiving the testimony. Wednesday was a bad day for the Biden Crime Family, but a great day for law and order in America. It is past time that we elevate this investigation into an impeachment inquiry and start holding the President accountable. READ MORE: Rep. Tenney to Newsmax: DOJ 'Should Withdraw' Hunter Plea Deal Enhance R&D Tax Credit to Increase American Innovation and Competitiveness Now more than ever, the United States must work to out-compete and out-innovate our adversaries by investing in proven policies like the R&D tax credit. Once a leader in promoting R&D, the United States has recently fallen behind other countries around the world that are offering greater R&D incentives. China, in particular, has chosen to invest heavily in R&D by providing a “super deduction” for R&D expenses. By enhancing the R&D tax credit, we can help small businesses and entrepreneurs across America invest in innovation that will unleash economic growth and create jobs on American soil. The FIRST Act is a crucial step in boosting American innovation and advancing our competitiveness on the world stage, reinforcing our nation’s position as the economic powerhouse of the 21st century. Supporting our Volunteer First Responders Rural communities across New York’s 24th District and the country rely on volunteer first responders to keep our communities safe. Earlier this year, I met with the Firefighters Association of the State of New York to hear about how Congress could better support them! That led me to introducing the Volunteer First Responder Housing Act which will expand federal housing assistance to these dedicated individuals in the communities they serve. Providing housing assistance to volunteer firefighters will help to reduce response times by enabling volunteer firefighters and EMTs to live closer to their stations. This bill provides much-needed and well-deserved housing incentives and benefits to our next generation of volunteer firefighters and EMTs so they can continue their brave work serving our communities. Supporting America's Printing Industry As the former owner and publisher of the Mid-York Press, a local commercial printing and manufacturing firm, I understand how the importance of print media and its impact on our communities and local businesses. This week, a group of bipartisan and I formed the Congressional Printing Caucus which will focus on advancing an agenda that protects America’s printing industry and its history in our communities. To further support small and local news organizations, last week i introduced the the Community News and Small Business Support Act. This bill utilizes tax credits to address the decline of local news organizations and support small businesses. Read more on this bill here, or at the link below. Transparency is vital to preserving our self-governing Constitutional Republic. Americans deserve to know how their Member of Congress votes on their behalf, which is why I have explained every vote I have cast in Congress since I was first elected. To read more about my votes and see the full list with explanations of all the legislation considered this week by the House, please click here. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 4366, the appropriations package for military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies for the 2024 fiscal year. This bill provides funding for our nation’s veterans and for military construction at home and abroad. The legislation fully funds veterans’ health care expenses and provides $800 million more than the President requested for military construction to support our nation’s defense and counter Chinese aggression in the Pacific. Further, this bill prohibits funding for the Biden Administration’s efforts to promote critical race theory and the Biden Administration’s executive orders on diversity, equity, and inclusion, freeing up additional funds to benefit our nation’s veterans and service members. As the mother of a Marine officer, I will always stand with those who have and are currently serving our nation. This bill passed by a vote of 219-211. I voted “Yes” on S.J.Res. 9, a joint resolution of congressional disapproval for the rule submitted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) relating to “Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Lesser Prairie-Chicken; Threatened Status with Section 4(d) Rule for the Northern Distinct Population Segment and Endangered Status for the Southern Distinct Population Segment.” In 2022, the FWS published a final rule that added the lesser prairie chicken to the endangered species list and also created two distinct population segments with different levels of protection. This move will be a step backward for the recovery of the lesser prairie chicken, threatening the voluntary conservation efforts undertaken by state wildlife agencies and private industry, while adding more levels of bureaucracy. It will also threaten the energy sector across the Texas panhandle and eastern Colorado, risking increased energy costs for Americans already struggling with high inflation. It is vital we focus instead on policies that allow for thoughtful economic development and have proven results in helping the species. This measure passed the House by a vote of 221-206. I voted “Yes” on S.J.Res. 24, a joint resolution of congressional disapproval for the rule submitted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) relating to “Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Endangered Species Status for Northern Long-Eared Bat.” In 2022, the FWS published a rule listing the Northern Long-Eared Bat as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) after years of litigation in court. However, in this rule, the FWS admits that the decrease in population is not due to human activity but White-Nose Syndrome, which is not caused by humans. This listing will have a significant impact on forest management and infrastructure projects on both private and public lands across Upstate New York. It would be devastating for our local economies and it is essential to roll back this rule. This measure passed the House by a vote of 220-209. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 1338, the Satellite and Telecommunications (SAT) Streamlining Act. This bill would require the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to modernize its licensing and authorization requirements for satellite communication systems. This legislation would help ensure the United States continues to lead the world in the deployment of advanced satellite technologies that have the potential to expand internet access and generate more than $1 trillion in economic growth. In Upstate New York, H.R. 1338 would be crucial in helping to expand high-quality internet connectivity to even the most rural and remote regions. This bill required a two-thirds majority to pass and failed in the House by a vote of 250-163 with one member voting present. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 4470, the Protecting and Securing Chemical Facilities from Terrorist Attacks Act of 2023. This bill would extend the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) authority through July 27th, 2025. The CFATS program identifies and regulates high-risk facilities to ensure security measures are in place to reduce the risk that certain dangerous chemicals are weaponized by terrorists. A clean two-year reauthorization will provide certainty to the chemical industry, while also providing policymakers a chance to further review the effectiveness of the program. This bill passed the House by a vote of 409-1.
