Lisa Blunt Rochester with Tom Carper

Hi there, it’s Senator Tom Carper.

I’m reaching out to you on behalf of a former intern, an amazing leader, and even better friend, Lisa Blunt Rochester.

Before I reminisce on the good old days, could you chip in $25 to her campaign for Senate? When I announced my retirement, I promised I would do everything in my power to make sure Lisa is the next Senator from Delaware, and that means building a strong grassroots team to support her:

When I first met Lisa, she was carrying her son Alex on her hip. It was 1988 and I had been a Congressman for five years at that point, but I knew a changemaker when I saw one. That was Lisa.

I invited Lisa to apply for my internship program, and a few days later, my office received this letter:

Lisa's letter

I didn’t know what impressed me more: that she was a graduate student raising a toddler (and soon, a toddler and newborn) or her innate talent for working in public service.

Whether serving as Deputy Director of Health and Social Services, Secretary of Labor, the State Personnel Director or as the At-Large Congresswoman from Delaware, Lisa has never wavered in her desire to craft a government that works for more people.

That’s the difference between Lisa and some other politicians: she is seriously driven by her desire to make a difference. It’s what she knows best, to leave things better than she found them.

I can’t wait to watch the incredible work Lisa will do in the Senate. But to get her there, she needs you on her side. Can you rush $25 or more to her campaign for Senate?
