Important PACT Act Dates for Veterans
Friend,
Veterans who have been exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances during their service to our country must apply before August 9, 2023 to receive backdated benefits. If you know an impacted veteran, I hope you will help me in spreading the word.
Our veterans and their families have made countless sacrifices in service to our country. We are the land of the free because of the brave.
Last Congress, I voted to pass the PACT Act. The PACT ACT expands VA health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. If you are a veteran who qualifies for these benefits but have not yet applied, you can still file a claim before August 9th to receive backdated benefits. You can use this link to file that claim: PACT ACT Claim Link
There are two important deadlines that I want you to be aware of:
- August 9, 2023: Veterans and survivors must file a claim before August 9, 2023, to be eligible for retroactive compensation backdating to August 10, 2022.
- October 1, 2023: Post-9/11 combat veterans who were discharged over 10 years ago and are not enrolled in VA health care must enroll by October 1, 2023, to take advantage of the open enrollment period. This allows veterans to avoid a phased-in enrollment period that could mean waiting longer until they are eligible.
These benefits are available, and I encourage you to utilize them if you qualify. If you need help or have questions about these resources, I'm here to help. My office can help you with any issues that you may have with the VA or other federal agencies. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
On Wisconsin,
Bryan Steil Member of Congress
