Dear
John
,

On Monday we asked for your support for a new campaign to defend the BBC and make it better.

We've been blown away by your response - both hugely positive AND lots of negative.

Hundreds of you have donated generously and we're already halfway to the target. THANK YOU!
Join them now - make this campaign happen with £5 a month ([link removed])
But for every single donation from one of you backing the campaign, we've had an email from another of you explaining why you *don't* support the BBC.

Your feedback on this is absolutely vital. Many of you are angry, frustrated, you've totally lost all patience with and interest in the BBC. Your feelings about this reflect feelings across the country.

This is why we can't *just* defend the BBC. We have to create a big national conversation BOTH about what people love about it AND about all the ways it needs to improve to really work for you.

Your feedback has hugely helped our strategy on this.

We're sticking to our guns. In a world of Murdoch and Breitbart, the Daily Mail and unregulated social media, we NEED a BBC that is impartial, evidence based and properly funded to speak truth to power.

But we won't shy away from the fact that many people feel the BBC has not been doing that. Years of government meddling have taken their toll and the BBC hasn't always helped itself, to say the least.
Let's defend the BBC by making it BETTER ([link removed])
Today we're talking to journalists, unions and media reform academics - and we're going to do our damndest to get a consensus on the kind of campaign that will save the BBC for the next 100 years.

We can't afford to run this campaign without you. If you care about the stories that get told in this world, even if you don't think the BBC is perfect, we need YOU.
Donate £5 a month to defend the BBC for the future ([link removed])
The deadline to reach the target is this Sunday 23rd February.

We're listening to everything you're telling us and we're thinking hard about the smartest way to run this campaign. But we're sure of one thing - Dominic Cummings is not our friend and letting him destroy our BBC will damage our whole democracy.

Cummings intends to "whack" our BBC and we intend to stop him. Donate now and we'll leap into action!
Yes I'll be part of this ([link removed])
Thank you for standing up for public services - and let's make sure our BBC works for US, the people - instead of being shrunk down to benefit a handful of media barons.

Solidarity,

Cat, Chris, Alice, Ellen and Pascale - the We Own It team
