John,

My name is Sean, I’m 33 years old from Blackfoot, Idaho, and I’m fighting for a Green New Deal because I want my 5 year old son to have a livable future with a safe and secure home.

That’s why I’m one of the hundreds of people from 30+ states who have already signed up to attend one of Sunrise’s Regional Summits in the coming months. At each Summit, we’ll spend two days connecting and strategizing with other Sunrisers, and training to become leaders in the movement.

If you’ve been waiting for a moment to take your role in our movement to the next level, this is it. Seize this moment with me: Attend the South Regional Summit, where we’ll train up to ramp up our organizing into 2020.

My son and I live in Blackfoot, Idaho--the place I’ve called home all my life. When I was young, I’d spend hours out in the lush green hills and fields outside my hometown. That was where I felt most at peace. But in recent years, droughts and heat have kept my hills brown and dry.

Because of this extreme dry weather, I worry that my son will never see the lush green landscape I used to love. I worry the farms our local economy depends on will shut down as fresh water becomes scarce. And worst, I’m scared that our friends and loved ones could lose their homes or even their lives to Idaho wildfires that have started to burn and spread longer and faster with less wet buffer zones to stop them.

If our next President doesn’t make stopping the climate crisis a top priority, these droughts and fires will only get worse. That’s why I’m heading to my Regional Summit: To train, connect, and strategize with other Sunrisers so we can ramp up the fight for a Green New Deal into 2020.

Sign up for the South Regional Summit train to take your leadership in our movement to the next level as we fight for a Green New Deal into 2020 and beyond.

P.S. Sunrise’s decision to make these summits and our movement youth-led and youth-centered is both a strategic and cultural one. Read more about that here. If you can’t make the summit or you’re over 35, chip in to support the amazing leadership work that will be happening there.
