John,
He poisoned the country with his dangerous lies about the 2020 election, led a plot to overturn the results, and incited a deadly insurrection.
Still, it appears as if no amount of federal charges or indictments will keep Donald Trump from being the GOP’s 2024 nominee.
What makes this even more terrifying are his brazen plans to expand the power of the presidency. Trump intends to catapult himself to unchecked power by seizing control of the Department of Justice and transforming hundreds of civil service positions into hyperpartisan ones.
Meanwhile, the Idaho state legislature passed a bill earlier this year that abolished the presidential primary, so voters in our state won’t even have a say in who is on our ballot for president.
Every year, more and more of our democratic process gets chipped away by the GOP, a party that is clinging to power so desperately that they are willing to return Donald Trump – a twice-impeached, twice-indicted (and counting), proven sex offender and racist – to the White House.
This makes retaking the House majority absolutely critical next year, and it’s why I launched my campaign to flip this seat BLUE as early as possible.
If you can pitch in $10, $25, $50 or any amount, it will make a difference in my ability to send election-denier Mike Simpson packing next year. Here’s a link to give: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/davidroth
Now, as we await yet another federal indictment against Trump for his attempts to overthrow the 2020 election, we need to prepare for the unthinkable.
If you’ve been with me for a while, you know I’m not one to trade in fear.
But make no mistake, this threat is real. Last year, hundreds of election deniers, insurrectionists, and Christian Nationalists ran for all levels of elected office, and 222 of them won.
Anti-democracy candidates are running for everything from school board member to POTUS, and we can’t afford to let ANY seat go unchallenged.
We must work smart and plan early if we’re going to flip this seat for ID-02, defeat MAGA extremism, and defend our fragile democracy.
Grateful to have you with me,
David Roth
