After a busy seven months in D.C., Members of Congress are returning home for a district work period.

The time is an opportunity for members to connect with community leaders, small business owners, and constituents about the issues that matter most to them. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the work we have done to this point and look forward to what more we need to accomplish when Congress comes back to Washington in September.

I wanted to take a moment to share a few key updates with you about what my office has accomplished so far this year:

• 1,930 constituent cases resolved
• $1.89 million recovered for local taxpayers - $16 million since taking office
• Original sponsor of 10 bills
• Co-sponsor of 119 bills
• 500 constituents welcomed to the U.S. Capitol

Rep. Bera Votes for FAA Re-Authorization Act

Rep. Bera’s End TB Now Act of 2023 Unanimously Passes Committee

This week, the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted unanimously to send my bipartisan bill, the End TB Now Act of 2023, to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a full vote.

Tuberculosis continues to inflict suffering on millions of people worldwide, despite being both preventable and curable. As a doctor and Co-Chair of the House Tuberculosis Elimination Caucus, I was proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation with Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) on World Tuberculosis Day earlier this year.

This bill will kickstart research and development of new tools to prevent, diagnose, treat, and control TB, and strengthen U.S. coordination with global organizations to develop and implement a global TB response.

🚨 Deadline for Veterans to Receive Full Benefits 🚨

ATTENTION VETERANS: The deadline to receive backdated benefits under the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act is quickly approaching!

I proudly voted yes on this important piece of legislation that will expand access to care and benefits for over 3.5 million veterans who have been exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances. This legislation is a critical step towards ensuring our veterans get the best care possible.

Helping Sacramento County Residents

I am proud of the work my office has done to make government work for the people of Sacramento County.

My office recently announced that we have recovered over $16 million for local taxpayers since I took office in 2013. In addition, we have served over 26,000 constituents.

That's why my staff will be available in locations throughout Sacramento County for Community Office Hours to help people who are having trouble with federal government agencies including backlogged Veterans benefits, IRS refunds, or issues with Social Security and Medicare.
