Voting is already underway in the Ohio special election, and the future of abortion rights is on the line.
Below, we’ll explain what this special election means and the impact it could have on the future of abortion access. But first, will you split a donation between Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom and Fair Fight to help protect and expand abortion rights throughout Ohio and make sure elections like this are run freely and fairly?

When Roe v. Wade was overturned last year, it opened the door for states to restrict abortion further — or in some cases, outright ban it. Ohio’s extreme ban on abortion after six weeks — before most people even know they’re pregnant — initially took effect, but it has since been put on hold by a state judge. In the meantime, Democrats are attempting to enshrine abortion access in Ohio’s constitution once and for all, preventing future anti-abortion attacks from becoming law.
Republicans pushed for the August special election to try to raise the threshold for passing constitutional amendments, with the goal of making it harder for Democrats to protect abortion rights. To make matters worse, counties across Ohio had not received adequate support for the special election, and as a result, polling locations were unavailable, poll workers were difficult to find, and the initial ballot language was reworded after it was deemed to be too confusing. If Republicans succeed in the special election, experts say it will have a ripple effect across the country.
Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom led the charge to collect more than 700,000 signatures from all 88 counties across Ohio, and they’re continuing to educate and mobilize voters to make their voices heard in the special election to defend abortion access for years to come. To help protect abortion access and ensure free and fair elections to help make our voices freely and fairly heard on these critical issues, will you split a donation between Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom and Fair Fight right away?
