Folks,

There’s been a lot of media coverage surrounding the Virginia GOP’s new web portal encouraging Republicans to vote early in November’s legislative elections. GOP voters in the Commonwealth are seeing dozens of stories with Republican legislators touting the portal’s launch and reiterating how crucial it is that they step up their ground game and vote early.

Just in the past couple of days, I read articles where the VA GOP calls on Republicans in Virginia to “stop sitting on the sidelines” and tells them that “we need to set the bar higher.”

First of all, I hope this puts to rest the debate over early voting. Both parties now agree, we want as many people voting as possible. That’s a good thing. Second, we need to redouble our efforts to reach our voters and make sure they know the stakes for this year’s election, which is why I’m writing to you now:

We can’t sit idly by and continue letting this early voting initiative gain even more momentum. That’s why we set an ambitious end-of-month fundraising goal of $10,000, so we can get out the vote for our Democratic candidates and make sure they have the support they need to win and take control of the General Assembly this fall. We don’t want to look back four months from now and wish we did more to fight back against the GOP’s early voting efforts. Now is the time for this grassroots movement to step up and prove that we have what it takes to win in November.
