We know that it takes a network of support to get nutritious food to those who need it most, and our VIP Partners are experts at creating those networks through both creativity and vulnerability. In this video you'll hear how Eastwick UMC taps into their community to provide for neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity:

Our Board of Directors

Thank you to our outgoing Board members, Daniel Perez, Nancy Kohn, and Robin Holts!

Daniel completed two terms for a total of six years and was instrumental in hiring our Executive Director, Melody Keim, growing the Coalition’s capacity, and supporting our fundraising and marketing efforts.

Nancy completed three years and served as Vice Chair on our Executive Committee, was the lead for our Development Committee, and was instrumental in our Strategic Planning process.

Robin completed two years and served as Secretary on our Executive Committee, planted the seed of an idea that led to the creation of the Philly Brunch Off, and nominated Angela Gravinese, our newest Board member.

We’re excited to welcome Angela (Angie) Gravinese to our Board of Directors.

Angie is the Senior Audit Director, Internal Audit & SOX for The Vanguard Group. We are so grateful to Robin for having nominated Angie to join our Board, and we are excited to have Angie as a part of our Coalition team!

Race Against Hunger

The Race Against Hunger 5K will be here before you know it! Register to walk or run with us at the Navy Yard on September 30th. Can't make it that day? Sign up to participate whenever is most convenient for you.

Many families recently lost benefits they relied upon when the federal public health emergency ended. To make matters worse, food prices have soared and remain high. We are hearing and seeing the increased need for food assistance. This is why we need your help raising the visibility of food insecurity and raising funds to support our life-changing work! Join us for the 5K that strengthens food access across Philadelphia.

Want to further your impact and do more to help build a food secure Philadelphia region? Consider making a personal fundraising page for the Coalition Against Hunger when you register for the Race Against Hunger, or create a fundraising team by emailing [email protected], and see which one of your friends or family can raise the most to support our work at the Coalition by September 30!

Food Pantries & Soup Kitchens

The Victory in Partnership (VIP) program has two events this coming week. Both these events are intended for food pantry, soup kitchen, and other community food program leaders. If you would like to RSVP, please email [email protected].

  1. Tuesday, August 1st at 1pm - Feast of Justice will be hosting our third pantry tour. Feast of Justice operates a full-choice, shopping model. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this approach to running a food pantry.
  2. Thursday, August 3rd at 1pm - We will be hosting an open Q+A session on Zoom for community food programs who want to join the Race Against Hunger to fundraise for their own program.
