Hi, John. It's Tiernan, Mark's Finance Director.

I'm reaching out with an update on our fundraising goal because our deadline ends when the president steps on stage in Phoenix and we still have some work to do.

I've been crunching the numbers, and we still need 6,031 more people to chip in before the president arrives in order for us to hit our goal.

And it's especially important that we don't fall short, because our opponent's attack ad has been running all week long and the money she raises tonight will help to keep it up for even longer.

So we need your help and it's going to take lots of people making donations of $3, $5, or $10 to get us there.

You can see what we're up against. So here's the part where I ask:

Will you make a $5 contribution today to help us hit our 10,000 donation goal? This is so important. We need your help to withstand the combination of the president's rally and the new attack ads being launched against us.

We need an enormous amount of resources to withstand these attacks, and it's going to take lots of people making donations of $5 or $10 to get us there.

However, it's not just about how much money we raise, it's about the number of people who are chipping in to help us defend Mark.
