Dear John,
I am excited to share with you an exciting update: 38 of our Leadership Training Academy Fellows are headed to New York City for their second in-person advocacy training next week.
Fellows will focus on understanding and developing their unique approach to leadership. They will hear from Academy alumni who have played essential roles in advocacy at all levels: in the media, with fellow scientists and researchers, within their professional associations, and even at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Leadership Training Academy Class of 2020
Surrounded by colleagues and mentors, they’ll discuss the personal and professional ramifications of “coming out” as an abortion provider or advocate for abortion care, and the intersection between religion, spirituality, and abortion care.
Also, building on a “RJ 101” session held last year, Fellows will share strategies to address health disparities and racism in medicine, as well as approaches to effectively incorporate reproductive justice principles into their practices and advocacy.
This unique training altogether is vital to helping physicians leverage their distinct voice as medical experts to speak out to protect patients, hold our lawmakers accountable, and expand access to reproductive health care.
Only with the support of people like you are we are able to continue providing the training and resources these doctors need to fight for all of us at this critical time.
I look forward to sharing with you more updates about the work these brave physicians are doing across the country.
In gratitude,
Anita Brakman
